The Wales Co-operative Centre ran Social Enterprise Day Wales on Thursday 19th Novemeber 2015. It was a day for people to find out more about how the local area benefitted from social enterprises. Social Enterprise Day encouraged members of the public to support social businesses, to help them grow and was funded by the Welsh Government. The scope and scale of the social business sector, its performance and opportunities for development were outlined by the report “Social Businesses in Wales: The State of the Sector.” The sector contributes £1.7 billion to the national economy and employs in the region of 38, 000 people. The sector has a high prevalence of young organisations with almost one in five social businesses having been established within the last three years.
