Homelessness Awareness Day

Cafe Camelot opened their doors on St David’s Day to provide a hot bowl of soup and other refreshments to the homeless community of Barry. Food for eight people was provided and those who attended welcomed the opportunity to relax, read the Sunday newspapers and have a chat with volunteer staff and representatives from The Big Issue and W.E.A. The Local Ward Councillor who attended said “it was a worthwhile initiative” and spent time chatting to visitors. Gary, who has been recently made homeless read about the event in the Gem and said “I’m sofa surfing at the moment and I normally have to stay outside most days.  I have really enjoyed today and look forward to coming again.” Our next event will be held on: Sunday 12th April 11:00 am – 3:00 pm If you would like to find out more about our Homelessness Awareness Days or you would like to request a poster/leaflet for your own organisation please contact us
